Bernadette. Gone Too Soon.

Our prayers and condolences go to the Bayot-Hernandez family and friends. As Hooligans, we did not know Bernie on a personal level but it was very clear to all of us that she was and is the heart, the rock and the soul of the whole family. Bruno and all his siblings have always openly shown how much love they have for her.

Bernadette, you have left an outstanding legacy with the children you raised so beautifully. Rest in peace and may God bless you.

Imagine, in 20 years. You’re in the car and your daughter bugs you to change the radio station. So you slam a random button and hope its a song she’ll enjoy. The mans voice on the radio speaks. You sigh and almost hit the next button. “This ones for all you older ladies. I know you remember the words. Sing along.” A familiar piano melody fills your ears. That voice. And suddenly, you remember. “What’s this?” Your daughter asks. “Sh.” You say turning it up as the words come in. “Oh her eyes, her eyes make the stars look like their not shining.” The picture of Bruno’s face pops into your head. Sitting in the middle of the room playing on the piano. Without meaning, you begin to sing along. All your hooligan memories flood your head. The fandom, the tweets, the fights, the concerts, the trips, the fangirling, the friends. Your eyes tear up instantly. The song ends and you can’t help but shut the radio. You’re not in the mood to listen anymore. “Who was that?” Your daughter asks. You wipe the tear from your eye and half laugh. “Just this guy that I used to like.. a lot.” You say. There’s no reason explaining it all to her. She’ll never understand just how much Bruno Mars meant to you.
